In their cosy flower studio in the arches at New Covent Garden Market, the fabulous team at Linda Cottee Flowers are glowing pink for the second year in a row. They have chosen to mark 'Wear it Pink Day' (Friday 26 October 2012) by designing vivid pink arrangements for all their contract flowers this week.
As a result, vibrant pink arrangements of exotic curcuma (Siam lily), cyclamen or hydrangeas are adorning some of London's swankiest offices right now, reminding people to donate to the fabulous cause of Breast Cancer Campaign at www.wearitpink.uk
The Market's intrepid photographer, Kathryn Holden, popped down to the workshop to snap a few images of the materials in preparation (click on the thumbnails on the right to see the pics).
"We really wanted to do something constructive in support of the Wear it Pink initiative, and so for this week in October, we donate 10% of our income from every pink contract design to the charity. Our customers really engage with us, generously ordering more than usual to support our fundraising. We raised over £350 last year, and are hoping to top that this month."
Unfortunately, Linda has added reason to support the charity this time around. In May, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. A smiley, optimistic lady with a distinctly mischievous twinkle in her blue eyes, Linda is dealing with the treatment with her characteristic good humour and resilience, popping into her workshop and the Flower Market as her energy levels allow.
We all wish you well, Pink Power Linda!
With love from your Flower Market friends x
